Mental health is a topic that has often been overlooked and stigmatized. It is a crucial aspect of overall well- being and it affects people of all gender. Most of the men are reluctant towards seeking help for mental health issues. Interesting Fact- It is estimated that approximately 1 in 10 men experience a mental health disorder at some point in their lives. This is because they are taught to suppress their emotions and toughen up all the time.

There are lot of challenges faced by men’s mental health. We often view mental health issues as a sign of weakness which leads to Stigma. Men are pushed to be strong, assertive and have a control over there emotions. A feeling of embarrassment , shame and fear of judgement occurs when they experience mental health issues. Toxic masculinity, a narrow definition of what it means to be a man, plays an important role here. This often leads to anxiety, stress and depression.

There are lot of things that men can do to take care of their mental health on daily basis. Take time to engage in activities you enjoy. Stay connected with your friends and family, social support is important. If you are experiencing a prolonged mental health issue, immediately connect with a mental health professional. Practice stress reducing techniques such as meditation, yoga or deep breathing. Avoid substance abuse such as alcohol or drugs as they make mental health issue worse.

It is important for us to come together and Cancel the Stigma by raising and educating people. We should encourage open communication. Our father, brother, husband, or any male figure should feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and feeling. They deserve a healthy, happy and fulfilled lives as in most of the houses they are the main bread earners. This issue needs to be addressed with care and understanding. Promoting a broader definition of what it means to be a man should be our collective moto, including the expression of emotions and vulnerability. By addressing these challenges we can help men leads a happier and healthier lives.
